RETINAL DIGITAL IMAGING

KEEPING A WATCHFUL EYE OVER YOUR VISION

HSH have invested in the latest Ophthalmic digital imaging equipment that enables us to record detailed high resolution digital images of the back of each eye.

This supplementary procedure enhances the standard full eye examination by providing magnified true colour digital images of the retina. These digital records of the appearance of the retina are then stored securely on a dedicated hard drive and can be instantly accessed for the future reference.

Comparing current images with previous digital records facilitates the early detection of any ocular changes that may indicate the need for referral to an ophthalmologist. In these circumstances we can transmit the images or series of images direct to the consultant for analysis and assessment.

The charge for this additional procedure is £10.00 and where possible will be conducted during the course of your standard eye examination.

In some cases however it may be necessary to dilate the pupils and in this instance a separate appointment will be arranged for a later date.

Payment of this additional private fee does not affect your entitlement to a free NHS eye examination.
